My First Day at iFusion

“How eventful can my first day be?” I asked myself as I entered Atlanta Tech Village for the first time.  Little did I know, “directed chaos” would be a far more accurate description for what I was about to experience.  Within minutes of entering the building, I was whisked away by Jacqui Chew and we headed to our first of three back-to-back meetings.  What a way to start the morning!

INTERN Q&A:

WHAT DID YOU LEARN?
I am a super-technology lover, so I really enjoy learning innovative methods of multitasking!  I was also very fortunate to be able to observe the inner workings of a successful partnership, learning how they silently communicate with each other during conference calls and subtlety direct the clients to discuss a list of predetermined priorities.  It was like watching a well-oiled machine – flawless.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
I’m really looking forward to the challenges presented in this internship.  I see them as opportunities to display my skills and talents in a dynamic and practical way.  In other words, I am very excited to put into practice everything I have learned about innovation and entrepreneurship.  I have more confidence than ever that I can create a positive impact during my time at iFusion.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THIS INTERNSHIP?
I took this internship with the intentions of honing certain entrepreneurial skills.  I also love the idea of having Jacqui Chew as a mentor, as she has already achieved many of the goals on my own list and is still making ripples in business community.  As challenges to myself, I would like to increase Jacqui’s productivity and help secure sponsorship for the TEDxPeachtree conference.

WHAT WAS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR DAY?
In one of the meetings I was fortunate enough to silently observe, I was able to contribute to the progress of the pitch, scoring an unheard high five.  It was rewarding because I was able to show my usefulness in quick thinking.

IS THERE ANYTHING MORE YOU’D LIKE TO ADD?
If you want to achieve your dreams, you have to be ready and willing to step out of your normal paradigm and learn something new.  Not just that, but it’s important to realize that every great innovator started with nothing but an idea and experienced more failure than success along the way.  In fact, failure is necessary to find the path to success.  That being said, feel confident that you are capable of accomplishing things you’ve never done before – instead of shying away from new challenges, embrace them!
